Ocho Rios or Montego Bay to Craighton, and back the same day
The gate fee is inside the fare
Craighton's entrance is listed as an
inclusion, which is not true of the other departures.
Two hours at the great house
The longest stay on the estate of any
booking here, with a certified coffee guide.
A hilltop gazebo above the plantation
A short climb through the rows to
the view the estate keeps for the end.
Strawberry Hill, if you want it
An optional stop with one of the best
terraces on the mountain.
A 7:30am start
Which is what makes a cross-island day work at all.
What this day is actually about
Getting a north-coast holiday onto a Blue Mountain estate. Ocho Rios and Montego Bay
are on the wrong side of the island for the coffee, so this booking accepts that and
builds a proper day around the drive rather than pretending it away.
You leave at 7:30am and cross on the north–south highway, passing Spanish Town,
Jamaica's Spanish colonial capital, on the way in. At Craighton the estate gives you two
hours: the working farm, the great house, a certified guide and the tasting, then a short
climb to a gazebo above the plantation.
Afterwards the day loosens. Strawberry Hill is offered as an optional stop, Devon House
follows for lunch, and there is a short run through Kingston before the drive north. It is
seven to nine hours and it is private, which is the honest shape of a
Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee tour from Montego Bay.
Your day, stop by stop
7:30am collection. Your driver waits at the hotel or villa lobby ten
minutes before departure; have the voucher ready.
Across the island. The north–south highway towards
Kingston.
Spanish Town. A pass-by of Emancipation Square in Jamaica's Spanish
colonial capital.
Craighton Estate Great House. Two hours on the working farm, with
the tasting and the hilltop walk.
Strawberry Hill. Optional, about an hour and a half, for the view
down the valley.
Devon House. An hour in Kingston, and where most people eat.
Kingston, then home. A short drive through the city before the run
back north.

Who this suits, and who should book something else
Book this if
You are staying in Ocho Rios or Montego Bay, you want a car to yourselves, and you are
willing to give the mountains a whole day. Discounted rates for children are stated on the
listing.
Book something else if
You have half a day, or you are already in Kingston. The
private
Craighton half-day reaches the same estate in four hours from a Kingston hotel, and
the shared morning
collects in Ocho Rios for a third of the fare.
Where it collects you
Tickets redeem at Ocho Rios and at Montego Bay, and the driver waits at your hotel or
villa lobby ten minutes before departure. Show the electronic voucher to board.
Negril is not on the list. The nearest collection point to it is Montego Bay, roughly
two hours further east, so a Negril base means moving along the coast the night
before.
Know before you go
Wear trainers or hiking shoes. The operator asks for them by name;
the hilltop walk is on farm ground.
Food and drinks are not in the fare. Snacks and bottled water are
aboard, but lunch at Devon House is yours.
Infants travel on laps. Discounted rates for children are stated.
Not wheelchair accessible. The estate is a working slope.
Gratuities and souvenirs are extra. Both are listed as
exclusions.
It is a long day. Seven to nine hours door to door, most of it worth
having, and the drive is where the guide earns the fare.
Free cancellation up to 24 hours aheadA private car from the north coast, with the estate's gate fee included.
Next step: pick your date and see live availability, the exact collection time and travellers' own photographs of the farm.
Questions people ask before booking this one
Does it really collect from Montego Bay?
Yes. Tickets redeem at both Ocho Rios and Montego Bay, and the driver meets you at the hotel or villa lobby ten minutes before the 7:30am departure. Expect the longer end of the seven-to-nine-hour band from Montego Bay.
Is the estate entrance fee included?
Yes, and this is the only listing here that states it. Craighton charges US$25 for an adult at the gate, so it is a real part of the fare rather than a rounding detail — what the estates charge.
How long is it at the farm?
Two hours at Craighton Estate Great House. That covers the working farm, the history of Jamaican coffee production, the tasting and a short climb to a hilltop gazebo above the plantation.
Do we have to stop at Strawberry Hill?
No, it is optional. It is a hotel terrace above Irish Town with a long view down the valley, and one traveller says lunch there was the best part of her day. Ask your driver on the morning.
Is lunch included?
No. Snacks and bottled water travel with the vehicle, and the lunch stop at Devon House is at your own cost. Carry a card as well as cash.
Is there anything shorter from Ocho Rios?
Yes. The shared Blue Mountains morning collects in Ocho Rios and Runaway Bay from ninety dollars. It is still a long day, but it costs a third as much.
What is the road like?
The highway crossing is straightforward; the last hour into the mountains is switchbacks. If anyone in the party is prone to motion sickness, prepare before you set off — what the day feels like.
Wayne was a first-rate guide, helpful and knowledgeable from the moment we set off. Junior, the coffee guide at the estate, took his time explaining everything. The whole day was enjoyable and the scenery is remarkable.

★★★★★
A beautiful day out. We had a very good lunch at Strawberry Hill after the coffee estate, and that place is worth the stop on its own. Wayne was knowledgeable, friendly and easy company.

A superb day to the Blue Mountains and Kingston. Wayne went out of his way to make sure it worked for us. We saw a great deal and learned a lot in one day.

If this one is not yours, the other two featured days are these. The shared morning, ninety dollars with pickup from four towns; a private half-day to Craighton Estate, ending at Devon House.
